Matheson Finance / Matheson Capital (“we,” “us,” “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect, why we collect it, how we use and share it, and your rights under Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and Alberta’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

This website is operated by Cameron Matheson, CPA, a licensed mortgage associate with Dominion Lending Centres – Mortgage Forcein Edmonton, Alberta, under the Matheson Finance (residential) and Matheson Capital (commercial) brands. 1. What we collect

Information you give us — when you use our contact form, mortgage calculators, or otherwise reach out:

Identity and contact details: name, email address, phone number.
Mortgage and financial details you choose to enter: home value, mortgage balance, interest rate, debts, and similar figures.
Anything you include in messages to us.

Information collected automatically — when you visit the site: device and usage data (IP address, browser type, pages viewed, referring page, interactions) collected through cookies and similar technologies, and advertising/measurement data collected through the Meta Pixel (see Section 5).

We do not ask for or store full financial-institution account numbers, Social Insurance Numbers, or similar sensitive identifiers through this website. Figures entered into calculators generate estimates and, if you submit them, help us prepare for your consultation.

2. Why we collect it

To respond to your enquiry and provide mortgage brokerage services.
To generate the estimates you request — these are estimates only, not an offer, pre-approval, or guarantee (all financing is O.A.C.).
To match you with suitable lenders and submit applications on your behalf, with your consent.
To measure and improve our website and marketing, including the performance of our ads.
To meet legal, regulatory, and record-keeping obligations that apply to mortgage brokerages.

3. Consent

By submitting a form or providing information, you consent to the collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described here. For sensitive purposes (such as a lender pulling your credit), we obtain your express consent first. You may withdraw consent at any time (see Section 8), subject to legal or contractual limits.

4. How we share it

Dominion Lending Centres – Mortgage Force, the brokerage under which we are licensed, as needed to provide brokerage services and meet regulatory obligations.
Mortgage lenders and their application platforms (including the application portal we use) when you choose to apply or ask us to seek options for you.
Service providers that operate our website and tools on our behalf (for example, our hosting provider and email provider), under agreements that limit their use of the data.
Meta Platforms, Inc. through the Meta Pixel and advertising tools, for ad delivery and measurement (see Section 5).
Authorities or regulators where required by law or to meet brokerage compliance obligations.

We do not sell your personal information. Some service providers (including Meta) may store or process data outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions. We take reasonable steps to ensure comparable protection.

5. Cookies, the Meta Pixel, and your choices

We use cookies and similar technologies to run the site and measure performance. We use the Meta Pixel to deliver and measure Facebook and Instagram advertising; it may allow Meta to match activity to your Meta account and support interest-based advertising.

We also use Vercel Web Analytics, provided by our hosting provider, to count page views and referring sites. It does not use cookies or identify individual visitors, so it runs for every visit regardless of your cookie choice.

When you first visit, a cookie-consent banner lets you Accept or Decline non-essential cookies. The Meta Pixel loads only after you accept — if you decline, it is not loaded. Essential cookies needed to run the site always load. You can change your choice anytime using the “Cookie settings” link in the footer, or by clearing cookies in your browser.

You can also adjust your Meta ad preferences at facebook.com/adpreferences and in Instagram settings, or opt out of interest-based advertising at youradchoices.ca.

6. How long we keep it

We keep personal information only as long as needed for the purposes above and to meet the legal and regulatory record-retention requirements that apply to mortgage brokerages in Alberta, after which we securely delete or anonymize it.

7. How we protect it

We use reasonable physical, technical, and organizational safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information. The site is served over HTTPS. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your rights

Subject to PIPEDA and Alberta PIPA, you may access the personal information we hold about you, ask how it has been used and disclosed, request corrections, withdraw consent, or make a complaint. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta (oipc.ab.ca).

9. Children

This site and our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows the current version. Material changes will be posted on this page.
